On Friday April 19th, 2024, 12 White Plains Youth and 10 White Plains Police Officers completed The Spring 2024 session of the White Plains “YPI” Youth Police Initiative. This initiative is collaboration between The White Plains Youth Bureau, The White Plains Police Department, and Grandpa’s United a White Plains community group. The “YPI” program is a promising prevention and early intervention program that the department has participated in with the youth bureau dating back to 2008. The approach of the program is to enhance trust between law enforcement, teenagers and their families. It is a week-long program that brings together 12 to 15 neighborhood teens at one time with police officers who patrol their neighborhoods to participate in a highly interactive and structured training. We are very proud of this program and of the Officers and young people who participated.
